When do you give up?

Okay, this might seem like a depressing post, but it's honestly not. I really want to know what people think about this. So, for all the vast hundreds who read my blog daily, I pose this question: When do you give up on something you enjoy because you're tired of how others react to it?

Here's an example. Suppose you're a Star Trek fan. You're not one of those annoying nerds, but you really enjoy the show, you like watching the episodes, you know the character's names, etc. But no matter where you go, whenever you bring it up, you're laughed at. When, if ever, do you reach the point where you start to enjoy Star Trek less because of the laughing? Do you ever get to the point where you say, "You know what? It's not worth liking this anymore." Do you ever give up?

Now replace Star Trek with...anything. A band, a movie, an event, a holiday, a book, whatever. Does the reaction of others ever bother you to the point where you start to enjoy it less?

  1. Yes. :-( That happens to me all the time. What exactly are you referring to?
