Back at Traffic
After a considerable time of unemployment, I am no longer a statistic. I will be starting tomorrow back at Traffic.com. I worked at their main office in Pennsylvania before moving and the Orlando office had an opening which I applied for last week. I am very excited to get started and begin the next step in our new life in Florida.
I really do believe that being unemployed turned out to be a good thing. The time to stay home with Shelsy and prepare for the baby has been invaluable. We've definitely grown closer as a couple with me being home so much. It was especially nice to have that time immediately after moving to a new place where we didn't know anyone.
But we're feeling pretty established now, and I think the timing of this job is perfect.
As an aside, I think everyone should check out Traffic.com. And I'm not just saying that because I've worked there. I actually used the service before working there and I definitely recommend it. You can create and save individual drives that you make on a regular basis and then check the status of those roads before leaving each day. You can even get email or text message alerts when something happens on the roads you travel. It's pretty sweet.
Anyway, I encourage you to check it out. And stay tuned for updates about how the new job goes!

Real Time Search
A lot of people think that real time search is the "next big thing" in Internet search results. When you search for something on Google now, you simply get results of websites that mention your search term. But for some searches, especially those related to current events, it would be nice to see not only websites, but what people are saying about what you searched for right now.
If you use Firefox, there's a great Greasemonkey script that enables real time search results very nicely. Whenever you search Google, this script adds a small section of Twitter search results right at the top which are pulled in real time, meaning you get to see what people are saying about your search live. It's actually really slick and doesn't clutter up the Google page at all. I highly recommend it.
Download the script here. Enjoy!
