The Magic Kingdom!

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the Magic Kingdom!"
With those words, we stepped off the monorail and into arguably the best Disney park of them all. And we had an awesome time! We visited all the staple rides and attractions including Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.

The biggest problem with the day was that Splash Mountain is closed until February. Boo. Oh well, on to the rest of the park.

There are several new additions to the park, including the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor show, which was hilarious! It was an interactive animation show, which I've never seen before. There were Pixar style monsters on the screen talking back and forth to the audience. I'm sure there was someone backstage supplying the voices so the characters on screen could talk to people by name, but it was still very cool. And the show used a very cool text messaging system whereby guests in line texted their favorite jokes before the show that were then possibly used in the show itself. I sent in a joke I shamelessly stole from Shelsy's four year old cousin: "What do you call a cow with no legs? Ground beef!" And guess what? They used it in the show! It was very cool.

When we headed over to ride Pirates, we saw a crowd of people gathered around watching a performance. Turns out it was an actor dressed to look like Captain Jack Sparrow from the movie. He seriously looked and acted the part so well that for a few moments I actually thought it was Johnny Depp himself. Below is a video of the final moments of the performance. Click here to visit the page of the video for more details about it.

After our awesome day at the park, we stayed to watch the fireworks display. Here's a picture I uploaded right as the show was about to start. I filmed the entire show, and I'll upload that tomorrow.

Tomorrow we're heading back to the Magic Kingdom for a backstage tour called Keys to the Kingdom. It's a five hour tour that takes you all over the park, including underground! I'm sure we'll have lots to share after that one. Stay tuned!
