I'm a StudioNow Editor!

I just signed up to be a video editor for StudioNow.com. I don't know exactly what this will entail, but I look forward to giving it a shot!

StudioNow is a company that links a network of video editors to customers looking to turn their videos into professional movies. Whether it's a home movie or a wedding, StudioNow promises to turn it into a masterpiece. Here's how it works. The customers upload their videos, pictures, and audio selections to the website and StudioNow assigns an editor to the project. The editor is given a due date and has to turn the raw materials into a movie.

I think this is an excellent idea! There are so many people out there that have home movies lying around that they would love for someone to turn into an edited movie for them. But they don't know where to look. And there are editors out there looking for projects to edit, but don't know where to look. This could be the next big thing on the web.

I can even see StudioNow evolving further. Imagine if people could simply mail their video tapes to StudioNow (through some mailing system, similar to the way photo developing places work) and then StudioNow passes the tapes on to an editor. Once complete, the editor sends the tapes and completed work back to StudioNow, where the final DVD packaging, etc. is done and then shipped back to the customer. It might not be that far off.

I'm really excited to see how this service pans out. Not just for me because I'm an editor, but for everyone. I love seeing new services appear online and this one just might be the best I've seen in a while.
